(Legacy Feature) How to integrate Muut

This integration is no longer being offered to new customers. Instead, we recommend you use Circle to create a community forum that works with MemberSpace.

If you would like to have a place for your members to create threaded community discussions around various topics (like a Facebook Group or forum), Muut is a great tool to do that with.

Your Muut forum can be embedded onto your site (e.g. within a Member Page) so your members never have to leave your website.

Muut also allows your members to privately message each other.

MemberSpace has a simple single sign-on (SSO) integration with Muut which means when your members are logged in via MemberSpace on your website, they will automatically be logged into your Muut forum and not have to create a new account of any kind.

Follow the simple steps below to set this up!

Sign up for a Muut account here, you must be on the SMALL plan or higher for our integration to work.
Select the 'Run a forum on my own site' option on the Muut welcome screen and click 'Next':
Enable Private messaging if you want (so your members can message each other privately) and click 'Save':
Scroll to the bottom of the theme page and click 'Skip and customize later':
Click on 'Settings' on the right
Click on 'Federated IDs':
In your MemberSpace account > click Customize > Integrations > Muut

Then in Muut, copy the 'API key' and 'Secret key':

Paste them into the API key and Secret key fields in MemberSpace:
For the Community Name, in Muut look at the code below and copy just this part:
'ryantest' is just an example, you should see your own Community Name in Muut.
Paste it into the Community Name field in MemberSpace
If you've created any Member Plans, you can choose which ones grant access to your Muut forum.
Click 'Integrate with Muut' at the bottom and then add the link we give you as a text link wherever you want your Muut forum to output. We recommend you choose a Member Page so only members (on specific Member Plans) can access the forum.
When testing your forum, make sure you are testing the page on your live website in an incognito or private browser window (not your website editor). Also make sure you're a member of a plan that has access to the forum.
Feel free to go back into your Muut account and adjust any styling options.
