Website navigation is a very  opinionated topic. The way you want members to move through and interact on your website is usually subjective but there are some good common options to consider. Below are the three main options MemberSpace customers have successfully used to ensure their user experience is intuitive :)

OPTION 1 - Create a navigation page for members only

This is one of the more popular approaches MemberSpace customers use. You would create a page in your Squarespace site (e.g.  "/dashboard") and design it however you want. You would then add the page URL as a Member Page in MemberSpace.

You would make sure to include links on the dashboard page to the various other Member Pages on your website so that this page acts as the home base for your members to get anywhere else they need to go on your website. See this case studyfor a visual example.

You could also make this dashboard page the After Log In and After Sign Up page URL for your Member Plans so new and returning members are brought there automatically.

Additionally, you could add a link to the member dashboard page in your Main Navigation within Squarespace. Just log into your Squarespace site > click Pages > then click the plus icon (screenshot: https://cl.ly/290P0E3i0Q2o) and add the dashboard page.

OPTION 2 - Create a member page dropdown in your top navigation

If you prefer to have links to every member page easily accessible in your top Main Navigation, we recommend you create a dropdown in your Squarespace site and move every Member Page there. To do that, log into your Squarespace site > click Pages > click the plus icon (screenshot: https://cl.ly/290P0E3i0Q2o) > click Folder and name it (e.g. Member Navigation) > then drag all your Member Pages into the folder area so they are nested within it.

Here is an example of how it would look (the styling varies by template):

Keep in mind, any pages you add in the dropdown may have a sidebar appear automatically (depending on if your template supports Sidebar navigation).

OPTION 3 - Create a member page dropdown that's NOT in your top navigation

Assuming your template has Sidebar navigation available, you can set up a dropdown list folder (see OPTION 2 above) and move it to the Not Linked section instead of the Main Navigation section in Squarespace. This will automatically create a sidebar navigation only on the pages contained within the dropdown (which would only be your Member Pages). This allows your members to easily navigate between pages without cluttering up your top Main Navigation. Check out this case study for a visual example.

You could also have your After Log In and After Sign Up page URL be one of the pages within the Not Linked dropdown so new and returning members are brought there automatically.

We strongly recommend you still place a link (on a publicly available page) to one of the Member Pages in the Not Linked dropdown just in case someone gets lost and doesn't know how to get back. For example adding a link in the footer would do the trick.
