Migrating to MemberSpace from another platform is an easy process - we'll be here the whole way to help you! Below are a few details to keep in mind.

Creating Your Member Plans

Before we import any members you'll need to decide which pages on your website are for members only. In MemberSpace you'll add each page URL as a Member Page. Next you'll need to create your Member Plans in MemberSpace. You can create as many as you wish and each one can either be a recurring subscription, multiple payments, one time charge, or free. Each plan can grant access to whatever Member Pages and content you decide. If you need help with these initial steps, you can read our Setup Guide here, or call us at 201-499-5193, or email us: [email protected].

Manually Inviting Members

You can manually invite members whenever you want by clicking "Members" in your MemberSpace top navigation and then clicking "Invite New Member". If you invite someone to a paid Member Plan then they will receive your Invite Email (which you can edit in Settings > Member Emails). In the Invite Email there will be a link to enter and pay for the Member Plan you invited them to.

Importing Members

If you need to import members in mass, our support team will be happy to help out. We'll send you an online spreadsheet to fill in with your member's first & last name, their email address, and which Member Plan you want to place them on in your MemberSpace account. If you have any custom sign up fields you can also add those in. You can import as many members as you want :)

Every member that gets imported will automatically be sent an Invite Email. You can change the default text of the email easily by going to your Settings in the top MemberSpace navigation, clicking Member Emails, then clicking Invite Email.

Importing Payment Details

Before running the import, if your members are currently paying you via the Stripe payment gateway we can easily sync up their payment details to your new MemberSpace Member Plans so the transition is seamless and they won't need to enter their billing details again or have any delayed payments.

If your members are currently paying you via a different 3rd party payment gateway (e.g. PayPal or Teachable), you have a couple different options on how to handle this transition.

Option 1

You create a free Member Plan in MemberSpace (e.g. "Legacy Members") which will give access to whichever Member Pages and content you have on your website. We can then run your import and assign all your members to this free Legacy Members plan.

These legacy members would continue to pay you via whichever 3rd party you were using previously and any payment details would be handled via the 3rd party (e.g. cancelations, failed payments, etc). If a legacy member cancels via your legacy 3rd party system you'll need to manually remove their Legacy Member plan from their account so they no longer have access to your Member Pages and content.

If a legacy member wants to upgrade or downgrade plans we'd recommend you send them a sign up link for one of your newer Member Plans (connected to Stripe). They will need to enter their credit card details (and nothing will be prorated) but going forward you won't need to worry about managing their payment details in your legacy 3rd party system any longer. After they upgrade/downgrade you can safely cancel their plan in your legacy 3rd party system.

All new member sign ups would be paying through MemberSpace (via Stripe) so all their payment details would be handled in one place.

At any point you could manually reach out to legacy members by providing them with a new plan sign up link so they can enter their payment details in MemberSpace (via Stripe).

Option 2

You create a free Member Plan in MemberSpace (e.g. "Legacy Members") which will give access to whichever Member Pages and content you have on your website. We can then run your import and assign all your members to this free Legacy Members plan. If you want, you could have your Legacy Members plan expire after a certain period of time.

If a legacy member cancels via your legacy 3rd party system you'll need to manually remove their Legacy Member plan from their account so they no longer have access to your Member Pages and content.

All new member sign ups would be paying through MemberSpace (via Stripe) so all their payment details would be handled in one place.

In the meantime, you would manually reach out to all your legacy members and send them your Member Plan sign up link so you can collect their payment details within MemberSpace. After you have finished converting your legacy members over to MemberSpace you can safely cancel whatever legacy 3rd party system you were using.
