Can I connect a subdomain to my account?
Connecting subdomains is available on the Premium or Enterprise plan.
Connecting a subsite to your MemberSpace account will allow members to use the same login credentials and membership account to log in on two separate sites—the main connected site and the subsite. This also makes it easy for you, the admin, to manage everything for both sites (i.e. Member Plans, Member Pages, Content Links, Members, etc.) from a single MemberSpace backend.
If you'd like to connect a subsite to your existing MemberSpace account, reach out to MemberSpace support at [email protected]. We will take care of adding the subsite for you.
Below, you can learn about the two different types of subsites: subdomains and cross-domains.
Subdomain
If you are connecting a subdomain (i.e. members.memberspace.com if the connected site is memberspace.com) to your account, you will need to swap out the existing install code on your website with the new, updated install code as well as add the new code to the subsite. We will provide the updated install code for you once we add the subdomain to your account.
Below is an example of an updated install code:
Members will initially need to log in separately on both the main connected website as well as the subsite. However, moving forward, members will remain logged in when navigating between the two sites.
Cross-domain
Cross-domain example (if the connected site is memberspace.com): members.memberspace.org
There won't be a need to change the MemberSpace install code for a cross-domain because we are unable to authenticate cross-domains. You will keep the install code as it is on your main website and simply add the same install code to the cross-domain site. Therefore, members will need to log in to the main connected site and the cross-domain site separately. While members will not remain logged in when navigating between the two different sites, they will be able to log in on both sites using the same login credentials and membership account.
